2012 Call for Board Members

Becoming an AAGT Board Member is filled with Rewards, Rights, and Responsibilities and this is an exciting time to be involved! We are an organization that is poised for growth and equipped with a vision for the future.  Dedicated individuals are needed to make the vision a reality. The current action items include but are not limited to: AAGT Speakers Guild; Regional Development; Grant Information Bureau; Volunteer Coordination; Gifted and Talented Children Advocacy; Legislative Action; Parent, Students and Educators Special Interest areas and Education. 

Tenure of Office
The standard term for the Board of Directors is two (2) years, beginning in February after the annual conference. 

Responsibilities
Attend board meetings (once a month or less), as outlined in the bylaws.
Develop or refine at least one component of the website, arizonagifted.org.
Serve on at least one Board Committee at the request of the President.
Represent the best interests of the organization on all issues raised in Board meetings, based on careful analysis of agendas and supporting material.
Know and uphold the regulations, policies, and procedures of the organization

All candidates must submit the information outlined below, which will constitute their application: 
Name, home address, phone and e-mail address
Current position
Career highlights and history (a summary of significant activities and positions held)
Education
AAGT participation (include conventions attended, presentations, committee work) and accomplishments
Significant leadership activities
Statement of Candidacy (150 words maximum for inclusion on ballot).  The BOD Selection Committee reserves the right to edit any Statement of Candidacy to meet space requirements on the ballot. 

Submission
It is the responsibility of the nominee to ensure that a completed application is received.   Deadline is January 15, 2012. Applications may be faxed to 866-424-3992 or emailed to kristy@arizonagifted.org.
