Senate Bill 1069

Senate Approves Legislation That Establishes Scholarship Funds For Students
Who Graduate Early

The Arizona State Senate approved Senate Bill 1069, which establishes a grant for students who graduate from high school at least one semester early. Participating full-time students can receive up to $2000 for the cost of tuition, books, and fees to the accredited college or university of their choice. The funds will be disbursed over two years: up to $1,250 for the first year and up to $750 for the second year. Eligible part-time students will receive pro-rated amounts.

The money would come from the savings the student's home school district would realize by having the student leave early. However, the bill allows the school district to maintain their student counts that determine state funding minus a stipend for the grant fund.
